Teach For America is the national corps of outstanding recent college graduates and working professionals - of all academic majors, backgrounds and career interests - who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools and become lifelong leaders for expanding educational opportunity for all children.
Each year, Teach For America selects a diverse, highly selective corps of individuals who have the leadership skills to change the prospects of students growing up today, and ultimately to effect fundamental change from a variety of sectors, including education, policy, law, business, medicine and the sciences.
Teach For America trains all corps members during summer institutes; places them as full-time, paid teachers in urban and rural public schools; and provides them with ongoing professional development and career support to help them succeed during their two years as teachers and beyond.
As a Teach For America corps member, you will:
- Take on an intense personal challenge and work relentlessly to ensure that students growing up in our country’s lowest income communities are given the educational opportunity they deserve
